 Press Releases28th September 2005 The Times Science and Technology, 2005 Finalists John Lyon established the Photopharmica Group in 2002 with professors Stan Brown and John Griffiths from the University of Leeds. It aims to become the world leader in the discovery and development of photosensitisers to produce effective medicines for the dermatology, oncology and ophthalmology markets. The company, of which Lyon is chief executive and chief finance officer, has signed contracts with quoted pharmaceutical companies. Lyon believes Photopharmica is the first to take photodynamic therapy compounds from discovery through to treating patients for bacterial infections, including MRSA. Products in development include replacements for antibiotics and treatments for early-stage cancer. > menu |
